July 14, 2008 - We have updated our list of vendors for this coming weekend. They are as follows (in no particular order): Celtic Wanderings, Thistles & Things, Bath Fitter, Dolphin Design, Methodist Church, Bradley Imports, Kiwanis, Nora Nora, Emerald Police, Belfast Lions Club, Celtic Weave, Discerning Designs by Jessie, Laurence Craig-Green, Crazy Daves, Game Loft, Haiku Tent, Doolans, Hawaiian Ice-Dough-Fries, Scoops, Irish American Club, Ceilidh House, Bounce House, Olivia and Co., St. Andrews Society, Maine Thread, Boy Scouts and Dog Park. Please be sure to stop by and give them your support.

July 5, 2008 - A startling new development has arisen. The Belfast City Council has allowed the Lookout Pub to set up a beer tent on the grounds of the Maine Celtic Celebration! While this is something we have thought about from the beginning, we are approaching it with caution. The tent will be roped off and the only area where there can be alcoholic consumption on the grounds.

Beyond that, the heavy games are looking like they will be shaping up to be very well competed this year. There are rumors of top level amatuers coming from around New England. It should prove to have some good scores!

June 3, 2008 - As the celebration is fast approaching, a frenzy of activity is taking place. Vendors are lining up, Entertainment is confirmed, the Childrens area is shaping up, and slowly - ever so slowly we are gaining much needed volunteers. In addition to the fun contests we had last year, we are pleased to announce there will be a new contest joining us this year... Molly Malones Wheelbarrow race - stay tuned for the particulars - suffice it to say that the song plays a part in this race. Now is the time to start getting your family members, friends, business or organization teams together to compete in the Kilted run and row, Cheese Roll, Cod Toss Relay, Mud Flat Tug o War, Men in Kilts, and the all new Molly Malones wheelbarrow race. This years Highland Games will be held on Sunday at the old Anderson School Athletic field on High Street. The Parade will be held on Saturday but will have a slightly different route - it will go down High St. from the Anderson School to the intersection of Main St. and then turn left and go down Main St. towards the waterfront, turning left onto Front St. and will terminate at the Public Parking lot on Front Street. This year looks to have all of the fun and activities of last year as well as new additions to delight and entertain! Stay tuned.

The big thing we need right now, is Volunteers and donations. We are a small but determined group of people and we do what we can. But we need help, and aren't afraid to admit it. Whatever time or funds you can spare are greatly appreciated. Not sure what you can do or what we might need? Contact us at celticmaine@yahoo.com and express an interest and we will find a niche for you. One thing right off the bat is exposure. Tell everyone you know who might be interested. Tell your friends, family, friends you haven't met yet, heck tell people you don't like - after all you might just be able to go head to head with them in the cod toss relay or mud flat tug o war.

fáilte roimh goléir - Welcome Every One Of You

Music

This year's entertainment line up is looking to be a well rounded eclectic Celtic Mix. Back by popular demand are bohola, the Flying Scotsman, Ferg n Sons and the Napper Tandies, and in addition there are some great local acts like Castlebay, Maine St Andrews Pipe and Drums, and the Pubcrawlers as well as a not so local act like Prydein. Many of our talented Entertainers will be hosting Instrument Workshops throughout the event. On Sunday afternoon at 3:30 there will be the second annual Maine Celtic Sessuin - Music Jam that is open to the musicians of all ages to come and join our entertainers on stage.

We look forward to bringing back the bands and adding more to the list. Here is a tentative list of the bands we are bringing in and links to their web sites.
