Armed with concertina, Lynne Cullen will tell Celtic Tales of Myth and Magic from Ireland and the Isle of Man… with traditional musical accompaniment composed and performed by Kurt Kish on electric guitar, and some tunes on concertina. When the Faerie Folk kidnap an elderly widow’s beloved cat, she will do anything to get her back; A clever young woman matches wits with a changeling; Fionn MacCumhaill and his men stay in the weirdest B&B in Ireland, and more!
Lynne will also offer a workshop – The Path to Storytelling: Telling Traditional Tales. In this one-hour, “sampler” workshop, seanchaí (storyteller) Lynne Cullen will show you how. She will help you to unearth your natural abilities, remember and tell traditional stories, through lecture and handouts, simple imaging and memory techniques, and games. Not only will you have fun, but you will leave with the beginnings of your own collection of stories.
Lynne Cullen became a storyteller while living in England, and she loves the Old Stories. Lynne is also a visual artist, musician, and playwright. She hosts Seanachie Nights, a monthly evening of folktales and music from the Celtic and British traditions, at Bull Feeney’s Pub. www.lynnecullen.com
